I-70 / MD 63 Interchange Bridge Replacement

On October 18th, 2012, we were awarded SHA Contract WA4165180 for the replacement of Dual Bridges on I-70 over MD Rte. 63 in Washington County. The project will begin in November 2012.  The work includes the complete replacement of concrete footings and substructure, as well as the steel and concrete superstructures for both the eastbound and westbound bridges.  In addition, 22,000-tons of HMA paving is required.While the existing bridges each have three piers and four spans, the new bridges will each have only one pier and two spans.  The work will be accomplished in four stages.  Stage 1 is for temporary I-70 roadway widening.  Stages 2 and 3 are for bridge reconstruction. Stage 4 is for final pavement and median drainage improvements.  Two interstate traffic lanes will be maintained in both directions, and no temporary bridge or detours will be employed. The awarded contract amount is $11,850,570.
